The Goggins effect!
That’s how I started running. A few years ago, I found myself struggling in ways I couldn’t articulate, lost, overwhelmed, and unsure of the next step. That’s when I came across David Goggins, and his mindset hit me like a wake-up call.
Goggins, a man who calls himself “the hardest man alive,” embodies grit, resilience, and a refusal to surrender to life’s challenges. His story of overcoming unimaginable hardships, transforming pain into purpose, and outworking his limitations became a guiding light for me.
It wasn’t just his physical feats running ultramarathons, completing Navy SEAL training—but his mental discipline that resonated. His ability to turn discomfort into growth, to use every obstacle as an opportunity, felt like a form of meditation in itself.
From Goggins, I learned:
Own your mind: When things get tough, don’t shy away. Confront your weaknesses head-on.
Outwork yourself: Stop comparing yourself to others. Strive to beat your own yesterday.
Stay uncomfortable: Growth doesn’t happen in comfort zones. Embrace the grind—it’s where the magic happens.
He taught me that while we may not all aim to be ultramarathoners, we can adopt something from his mindset to fuel our own growth. For me, it was learning to sit with discomfort, much like meditation teaches us, and channel that into progress—be it in fitness, work, or personal development.
David Goggins didn’t just inspire me; he redefined how I view struggle and persistence. I’m still on my journey, but his words echo in my mind every time I feel like giving up: "Stay hard!"
If you’re looking for a push, his story might just be the catalyst you need :)
